Feedback Reflection: The most important feedback that I received was the positive comments pertaining to my body language. From my understanding, body language is extremely important in public speaking and makes a huge difference in whether or not people will be interested in your message. The feedback that surprised me the most was someone stating "You are a strong communicator and it really showed in your speech" and "You seemed very collected and your body language made this easy to watch. Sometimes when people are visibly nervous and fidget a lot, it can make the viewer feel uncomfortable". This surprised me because I get very nervous when speaking and for someone to give me feedback stating the complete opposite of my insecurities gave me the positive enforcement needed to continue to improve my public speaking skills.
Changes Based on Feedback: Based on the feedback from Elevator Pitch No. 1, I decided not to make any changes other than attempting to change something that I noticed myself. All the feedback given was positive and gave me the confidence to stick to my previous approach. The one thing I attempted to change was trying not to sound too mechanical in comparison to the first elevator pitch.
Elevator Pitch No. 2
You did a good job of flowing with the material and not sounding mechanical. One thing I did notice is that while you did have a specific ask amount there wasn't much in terms of what an investor would get in return. In this regard you do a great job of establishing the need for this service and your idea on how to address this need. However, your end result is a little foggy. Otherwise great pitch!
ReplyDeleteHi LeTray,
ReplyDeleteI watched your first elevator pitch and left one of the comments that you are referencing in this blog post! I’m so glad to hear that the feedback I gave was a positive reinforcement for you. What I’ve noticed just from experience is that even though you may feel like a nervous wreck and you have butterflies in your stomach, most of the time people can’t even tell how nervous you actually are. Good job, again! Your pitch didn’t sound mechanical at all.
Your elevator was really good. It flowed really well and you had a great pose the entire time. You had really good feedback and you deserved it all. Composure was great and no one would ever know if you were nervous or not. Great job and keep up the good work.
